Departures

The Departures Album

“An album that impresses as a remarkably assured collection of contemporary jazz and one rendered even more impressive by its status as Nissen's maiden voyage." - Ron Schepper (Textura.org)

"Especially for a debut record, Nissen's Departures reflects a maturity of concept and execution that is rather impressive."   - Troy Dostert (All About Jazz)

"Everyone in the band just feels so right; every note, every phrase contributes to the whole in a way I’ve seldom heard in modern quartets." - Lynn René Bayley (Art Music Lounge)

"The Canadian bass ace reflects on his voyage to India with thoughtful pieces that reflect his impressionistic nature of the whole thing. . . . Fine stuff from one of the leaders of the next wave." - Chris Spector (Midwest Record)
